Oceanside beach is one of my favorite places to shoot! The sunsets are stunning, the pier is iconic, the people watching is epic, and the coastline is vast. During the warmer months, the strand boasts live musical performances, eccentric roller skaters, and cruising low-riders that are a delightful spectacle adding character to the town's summertime vibe. During the summer, the irresistible aroma of funnel cakes waft through the air and they're always best washed down with a colorful snow cone or delectable cup of ice cream.
Having a couple's photoshoot with your honey down on the sand is the perfect activity to add to your list of things to do when you visit Oceanside or even if this amazing beach town is where you call "home".
Chelsea and Farris reached out to me to plan their couple's session when they came to town for vacation. They told me they wanted a relaxed, casual, "day at the beach"vibe for their photoshoot. They said it had been a while since they had prioritized photos of themselves since becoming a family of four and asked if we could include some family pictures with their little ones but could we place an emphasis on mom and dad. I said, 'Um, heck yes!"
My best tip for having a photoshoot with your kiddos:
Let them be kids! They are curious, playful, and above all, they love you and want to interact with you. Play with them, encourage them to run free around you, let them dig in the sand, play "I Spy" with the birds in the sky or the dolphin fins cresting on the horizon line. Check out the magic that can happen when you let them take the lead.
Now, we all know that our kids are the center of our worlds. But mom and dad deserve solo attention too! After all, it's because of their love and connection that the kiddos are here, right?! Okay, that's enough biology for this blog post haha. If it is possible, I recommend bringing a trusted family member or friend along to your photoshoot to keep an eye on the kids if they are not old enough to entertain themselves. This will allow me to steal you away for some much-deserved alone time to capture the love between you and your spouse without any distractions. Luckily, this sweet family had grandma nearby which allowed us to make this magic...
